EMAS
Portsmouth offers a few different resources and some background information
on the Kurdish-Sorani language.
When you visit this site, type the words 'Kurdish' in the search box and (selecting 'search EMAS'), click go. Some great stuff comes up in the results; most notable a number line that provides an audio version of each of the numbers 1 - 10. This could well be the first time your Kurdish-Sorani speaking child hears their own language at school - so its powerful stuff. The
Refugee Council Online site has some language packs on sale in a range
of languages. I typed 'kurdish sorani' into their site search box, and
the results returned products such as class room word packs and bilingual
stories. Prices range - the cheapest pack I saw (Words for School Use)
was £2.40 for 24 pages. Unfortunately it does not seem to provide
any samples or previews (please correct me if I missed something).
In addition, links are provided to useful guidance - such as how families can apply for integration loans. Recommended to littlelearner by Hermione Carter, EAL consultant Cheshire Children's Services |
